As a multimedia artist, TYLER DEAUVEA expresses himself as a human going through the experience of a “Black Man in America”, focusing mainly on the concept of individual growth and personal development.

His work stems from various physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of his own life. There are conveyances of dealings with faith, loneliness, emotional maturity and existentialism within the images he portrays.

Though he seldom covers social issues in America, directly, there is a deeply inherent political statement within the visual language of the work itself. Inspired by the “Otaku” sub-culture of Japan, Tyler created “ZOE” & “ZOEY” as a conduit to portray these stories in a way that we are also able see ourselves in these scenes. It’s not only a story from his life, but of our own.

In a style he describe as “AFROPOP”. Creating is a meditative process for him and he works to release himself in each moment.
