Ernesto Leon currently lives and resides in Houston, Texas.
Ernesto León is a visual artist with extensive experience in various media such as drawing, textiles, photography, sculpture, painting and video sound. His career includes more than 100 collective exhibitions and more than 30 solo shows with extensive literature of his work that range from articles, books, video, and audio programs.
Leon was educated in Spain (Madrid), USA (NY), and Mexico (CDMX). León has participated in international events such as the Sao Paolo Biennial and his work is in multiple private and public collections like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY.
His current research focuses on questioning the notions of space, light, and philosophical concepts applied to the visual and formal creative processes. He is currently working on sculptures using surfaces and materials that we call “urban” with the destruction of the pictorial technique , as well as the dystopian vision of rational or geometric composition. The result evolves an abstract and ordered imbalanced qualities in the works.
